The aerospace industry's SC21 initiative has been taken up with enthusiasm by South coast manufacturing service provider CT Production Ltd. Nine staff are trained in Business Improvement Techniques (BIT) and have embarked on cost reduction programmes including SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die - faster set up) and Order to Shipment stage reduction.
The company recently purchased a new Europlacer Xpress 25 Tornado SMT placement machine, significantly increasing capacity and is set for further growth. A collaboration project with Europlacer will further result in supply chain efficiency improvements by use of bar-coding of materials from supplier to shop floor. In spite of the international business crisis, CTP has achieved 15% sales growth in its first half-year results.
The company is now seeking a customer sponsor to work with for further development of its SC21 programme and hopes ultimately to achieve AS9100 approval status. The company is Investors In People accredited and is a member of IPC, training its staff to high standards of workmanship via its training school and internal IPC approved trainer.
